The thing about open endings is, they incite readers to seriously think about how the story could end and to come up with a scenario that will allow the characters to find closure.
Over at #noselfcontrol, the awesome rufftoon posted an almost 450 pages long comic about how, after his siege of the North, Admiral Zhao ended up in the watertribe without his memories and was left alive, because it obviously was the will of the spirits. Zhao eventually redeems himself, but the story leaves many, many questions unanswered.

This story happens in an Alternate Universe (AU) of Avatar, where Admiral Zhao didn't die. The Ocean Spirit brought him back, but Zhao's mind has been wiped clean.
Now living amongst the Water Tribe, he's managed to find a place in his adoptive nation.
But his old personality is still there, and pretty soon, things change...

It may start a bit slow, but I swear it does pick up
All the pages are rough pencil thumbnails, size of 5,5"X8". Quite small. A bit of grayscales were added to give depth and volume.
These were done for fun, and also as a good exercise in storytelling and planning on such a long scale, which I had not really done before.
I am not planning on inking, cleaning more or coloring them. I simply do not have the time.
The Avatar universe belongs to Mike, Bryan, Nickelodeon-Viacom-MTV.
All the characters belong to them, but a few of the extras are my own creation.
